Larry I. Larkin

August 10, 1934 — September 30, 2011

On September 30th, 2011, Larry Ingvald Larkin left this earthly world to join his grandparents, parents and a brother in their eternal walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on August 10th, 1934 to George Perry and Elvi Judith Oien-Larkin in Potlatch, Idaho. A year and a half later he was joined by a sister, Janice. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Sandpoint where they were joined a couple years later by a brother, Keith. Larry and his siblings grew up on the family dairy farm and attended Oden School and Sandpoint High School where he graduated in 1952. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Army, and while he was there, his family was joined by another brother, Rick. When he came home, he worked at the outdoor movie theatre that used to be on the north end of what is now Ponderay. He then worked for Seaboard Finance which took him away from Sandpoint to Missoula, Montana where he married and acquired a step-son, Craig, who he recently reconnected with. That marriage also produced his wonderful and loving daughter, Twila. They moved to Lewiston, Idaho where he went to work at Potlatch Federal credit Union. His marriage came to an end, but after a while he married again and this time gained an adopted daughter, Robin that he loved and has kept in contact with. They eventually moved to Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho where he got involved in real estate, and even ran for Kootenai County Assessor. Shortly after that time, his marriage ended and he moved back home to Sandpoint. He went back to trade school and became a computer programmer. He started a successful computer supported real estate company which was new to the industry, and many local real estate offices soon became affiliated with it. He also, during the same time, met the love of his life, Clara Ann Lubbers and they were married on April 7, 1984 in Coeur D’ Alene. With this marriage came a much loved step-daughter, Leigh Lubbers. He spent the last years of his life living between Clarkston, Washington in the winter and Jeb & Margaret’s Trailer Haven at Trestle Creek during the summer. Larry was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, joining originally in Sandpoint and then re-instating through the lodge in Lewiston. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time on the links with his partner in “golf” crime, Fred Page, Sr. He also loved to fish and hunt and spent many hours with his youngest brother, Rick, where they formed a bond that was more parental that fraternal. Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, step-father, and brother Keith. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Clara Ann, daughter Twila (and Gene) Frisbee of Lewiston. Adopted daughter Robin (and Jon) Regh of Conroe, TX. Step-daughter Leigh Lubbers of Cheney; step-son Craig Palmer of Moscow. His sister Janice (and Leo) Miller of Coeur d’Alene; brother Rick (and Julie) of Ponderay; and sister-in-law Diana Larkin of Nampa. Also surviving are 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, a great granddaughter, a score of other relatives and close friends who will miss his teasing and humor. A memorial celebration, of Larry’s life, will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to: Community Cancer Services, 1215 Michigan St Suite B, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864. (208 255-2301)
