George Thomas Smith, 88, of Clark Fork passed away, Saturday,
March 30, 2013 at Bonner General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, April 5th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Dwayne Parsons will be officiating with
interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
George was born in Georgetown, MA on May 19, 1924 where he graduated from high school in 1942. On October 23, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army Air Corp. He flew 28 missions over Rhineland, Normandy and France, as a ball-turret gunner, in a B-17 Flying Fortress. He was awarded 4 medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
On January 5, 1945 he married Wilma L. Miller in Covington, KY. He was a Gourmet Banquet Chef and a Baker owning, and operating, many restaurants throughout the country. He moved to Clark Fork, Idaho in 1995 and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, of 68 years, Wilma Smith in Clark Fork, Idaho; three children Ed Smith in Hope, Idaho; Veda Tallen in Clark Fork, Idaho;
and Tim smith in Enumclaw, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters Cindy Tuohy and Milly Cocroft.
George loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife and family and his country very much. He will always be loved and deeply missed.
