Murle Josephine (Wyatt) Rogers, 95, long time area resident and former partner in Rogers Grocery passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home.
A Vigil/Rosary service for Murle will be conducted at 7:00PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00AM, at St. Joseph's with Father Dennis C. Day, officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Murle was born in Clark Fork, Idaho on October 14, 1918, the daughter of Raymond and Josephine Wyatt. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1936 and worked for JC Penny’s in the accounting department. She married Joe Rogers on April 7, 1940 and daughter Frances was born in 1942.
Murle and Joe started their grocery business career in 1946 when they opened the Food Shop in the 100 block of Main Street. The business was later moved Main and Florence and called the Frances J. being named for their daughter Frances. In 1960 they moved the business to South Boyer and renamed it Roger’s Thrift. Roger’s Thrift was operated by the family until Joe’s death in 1970.
Murle was a longtime member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church. She supported Kinderhaven, the Community Assistance League, and Panhandle Special Needs. For many years she enjoyed golfing with the Wednesday Ladies League at the Elk’s Course.
Murle was family driven, she loved cooking for and supporting her family, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Michael (and Pam) Rogers in Sagle, Idaho; her grandchildren Jamie (and Toby) Schnuerle, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Nicole (and Aslan) Summerday in Missoula, MT; Katie Rogers (and Jimmy Reed) in Sandpoint, Idaho; and Joe Rogers in Sandpoint, ID; great grandchildren Jaeger and Jaeda in Bonners Ferry, ID; and Sophia in Missoula, MT. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was .preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Josephine Wyatt, her husband Joe Rogers, her daughters Frances J Rogers and Joann P Rogers; a brother Ralph Wyatt; two sisters Ruth Linsday and Hazel Crawford.
