Willam Torrence McBurney

William "Bill" McBurney, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Friends are invited to call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Friday, January 12, 2007 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Bill was born on Oct. 11, 1918 in Portland, Oregon and attended local schools in that area. He was active in 4-H raising and showing prize winning hogs. He served with the US Army Air Corps, during WW II, in Texas. After the war he farmed, for a short period of time, in Jerome, Idaho. He moved to the Sandpoint area in January of 1953. He established, and operated, the Bill McBurney Real Estate and Insurance Agency. In 1972 he sold the agency to Sandpoint Insurance and began investing in real estate contracts. He married Ruth Hernvall on May 28, 1953 Bill was a member of BPOE #1376 and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He loved fishing for Salmon off Vancouver Island, clamming, and spending time at his cabin on Priest Lake. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Ruth McBurney of Sandpoint, ID; his sister Helen Running of Portland, OR; brother-in-law Robert (Mabel) Hernvall of Sandpoint, ID; Sister-in-law Nina Kotschevar of Sandpoint, ID and numerous nieces and nephews, including Kris (and Jack) Collison of Portland, OR; Kathy (Randy) James of Sandpoint, ID; Patty (David) Hurford of Creston, BC; Don (Gizelle) Kotschevar of Mullan, ID; Ron (Mary) Hernvall of Yuma, AZ; Larry (Geri) Hernvall of Spokane, WA and Jack (Cindy) Hernvall of Portland, OR. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Vance and Edward.
