Ardella Jean Montgomery

March 28, 1934 — November 22, 2019

Ardella Jean Montgomery, 85, passed away at Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, on November 22, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.

Ardella was born to Anna and Danzel Dickson on March 28, 1934 in Coffee Creek, MT.
She grew up in Kalispell, MT and attended local schools.  She grew up on a farm helping her mother with cooking, sewing, gardening and caring for the farm animals.

Her family brought her the greatest joy. She loved her children and her grandchildren and her two four-legged special friends.

She is survived by six children; Ben Radford, Robert Radford, Norma Ray, James Radford, Scarlett Enyeart and John Radford. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Three sisters; Delphenia Kammerdiener, Glenda Hanley, and Sheila Olmstead. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Earl, a son Douglas Porter, a daughter Mary Porter, a sister Tooty Capdeville, two brothers Clayton Syth and Elred Syth.

She lived in the Sandpoint area for many years. She and her husband, Francis Porter farmed in the Wrenco Loop area for many years before moving to Lewiston, ID. She lived in Lewiston for many years.

Ardella was a rolling stone. She enjoyed moving and living in different places. During her life she visited 40 states and lived in 8 different states.

She kept herself busy, working full time and raising a family. She had many careers in her life. She was a short-order cook, nurse’s aid, and a beautician. After retirement, she and her late husband, Earl volunteered at Coeur d’Alene Food Bank for several years.

Ardella was a very talented and creative person. She loved to paint and make quilts. She made dozens of beautiful quilts for family and friends. She made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren.
She was also known for her homemade jams, jellies and pickles. She especially loved to pickle fruits and vegetables.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Wellspring Meadows caregivers for treating her lovingly, like family.

The family would also like to thank Schmeidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho staff for their dedicated and kind care of our mother.

 Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at  Coffelt Funeral Services, 109 N. Division Ave., Sandpoint, ID at 1 p.m.
