Listen to Obituary

Bradley Stewart Yunek, 65, entered into heaven on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Brad was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He grew up in Huntington Beach, California. His parents were William (Bill) and Benita Yunek. He was the oldest of three children.

After graduating from Huntington Beach high school, he went to Orange Coast College and Golden West College taking classes in agriculture and tractor maintenance, and diesel engine rebuild and maintenance. He received certificates of further education in hydraulic systems on all John Deere tractors, and SCR components and circuits on Clark forklifts. He built 16’-18’ tri-hull ski boats for Galaxie Boats, was a truck driver, and was a mechanic for 30+ years. He worked for a beef cattle ranch in Walden, Colorado, and at Western Pleasure Guest Ranch as a mechanic/wrangler. His love for working with horses came true working at the guest ranch.

Brad married Susan Ann Brooks on October 17, 1981 and they were blessed to adopt their two children, Heather and Joshua. They were married 43 years. They have lived in California and Idaho. Brad enjoyed boating with his family, boat camping, water skiing, hunting, and going on road trips.

Brad began his songwriting career in 7th grade writing many worship songs about God. In 2004, he began writing to the commercial markets. Brad loved shaping a story with lyrics and notes. He loved it when someone heard one of his songs, would smile, have tears, or move to the rhythm that he designed. The process of creating something that did not exist before, and having that song impact people, would light him up! Regardless if the song was a solo write, or one he helped write with Susan or friends, he wanted that creation to be the best that it could be. He was a member of BMI, SongU, Global Songwriters Connection, and Songwriting Pro.

Brad was a member and served at Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene. Over the years, he enjoyed leading Bible studies, youth group, serving on the church board, and playing and singing on the worship team. He played the guitar, piano, and keyboard. He was gifted to be able to play by ear, and would often play extra filler notes.

Most importantly, Brad was a man of faith. He loved the Lord, desired to know Him deeply, served Him, loved his family and loved his country. He loved others, and would do anything to help a friend or family member.

His family is comforted in the knowledge that he is with Jesus now and for eternity. He is free of Parkinson’s Disease that bound him. He will be remembered for being a sweet, loving, supportive and devoted husband and father. His example of loving God and family will be treasured.

We praise God for Brad’s life and thank Him for blessing us with his gifts of music, love and friendship.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on June 13, 2026 in the Pack River Cemetery. His celebration of life was held on November 16, 2024 at the Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene.
