Carl Omar Swan

Carl “Rocky” Omar Swan passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on June 18, 1946, in Burbank, California, to Omar and Elma Swan, Rocky lived a life defined by service, hard work, loyalty, and love for his family.

Rocky proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a long career that included work with Lockheed Martin, Safeway, and NAPA Auto Parts before retiring in 2012.

On July 4, 1983, Rocky married the love of his life, Debra Lawson, at the Silver Bells Chapel in Reno, Nevada. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.

Rocky was happiest outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, or enjoying the beauty of North Idaho. He had a lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles and was a devoted fan of the Rolling Stones. He also loved classic country music and often joked that he liked “country music before it was cool.” Known for his quick wit and mischievous sense of humor, Rocky never missed an opportunity to make people laugh.

More than anything, Rocky loved his family. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love, guidance, and stories will live on through the generations he helped shape.

Rocky was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra Swan; his parents, Omar and Elma Swan; his siblings, Robert Swan, Ken Swan, Nancy Spain, and Donna Schiller; and his best friend and cousin, William Swan. He is survived by his children, Jason and Emily Swan, Tammy Davis, Christian and Johanna Swan, and Sheila and Devon Stierle; his grandchildren, Parker Davis, Rock and Kiera Earnest, Daisy Johnson,Simone and Jean-Paul Poulin, Hannah Ogan, Savannah and Jack Stierle, Brooke, Harper, Hayden, Joshua, Poppy, and Taryn Swan and Alexandria Symons; and his great-grandchildren, Archer Commetto, Elizabeth Davis, Axel, Austyn, and Ava Earnest, Aiden Johnson, Nora Ogan, Oliver Stierle, and Jason, Isabella, and Tyson Symons.

Rocky’s family finds comfort in the many memories he leaves behind and the love he shared throughout his life. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
