Charles Everette Johnson ("Chuck") passed peacefully from this world on November 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Chuck was born and raised in the Noxon area, the youngest of seven children born to Walter and Phoebe Johnson. He is survived by his sister Dora Adams (Spokane Valley) and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck lived in Noxon his entire life and was a storehouse of knowledge of its history and people. At the time of his passing, he was still residing in the old house in which he was born. Chuck attended school in Noxon and went on to work various jobs in the area including construction of the current Noxon High School and the Libby Dam. Chuck was critically injured in a construction accident during the school construction, including a broken pelvis, that required three months of recovery in the hospital. Later years he continued to work as a handyman/gardener for various people in the Noxon area.
Chuck loved people and had many wonderful friends. When he was younger, he had a huge garden that he enjoyed tending. He always had a huge bounty that he was happy to share with family and friends. He was always welcoming and happy to have people stop by for a visit. And animals, too. He took in many strays, the last being his beloved white cat, Snowball.
In his later years, he enjoyed the fellowship and dinners at the Senior Centers in Noxon and Heron. One year, he was selected as Noxon Senior Citizen of the Year and honored in the Noxon 4th of July Parade. If you dropped in on Chuck during these years, you might find him working on a jigsaw puzzle or a word search or watching his favorite old Westerns on TV. Even up to his passing, with his body failing, Chuck maintained a sharp mind and an amazing memory for names and faces. We should all be so blessed.
There will be a graveside service at the Noxon Cemetery on December 20, at 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life reception to follow at Noxon United Methodist Church, 200 Broadway, Noxon.
