Daniel Charles Rose

September 7, 1965 — May 12, 2025

Sandpoint

Daniel Charles Rose, 59, took the Lord’s hand on May 12, 2025. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Kathleen, mother Susan, son Bryce, sister Denise, and step daughters Stephanie and Jessica.

Dan earned his bachelor's degree in finance and investment from Babson College, and went on to attain a master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College.

As a veteran of foreign war in Iraq, he attained the enlisted rank of Staff Sergeant and a commissioned rank of Captain serving in the Army National Guard as Military Police. He transitioned into a career in law enforcement and became a Massachusetts State Trooper where he was part of the Underwater Recovery Unit, commonly known as the Dive Team. Dan also participated in the state trooper’s annual hockey tournament.

After retiring to Sandpoint, Idaho in 2014 he was eager to serve his new community. He was involved with the VFW and was a volunteer driver for disable veterans. He was also a member of SPORTS (Safety Peace Officers Retired To Sandpoint) and Save Selle Valley.

In 2017 he was elected to the Pend Oreille Hospital District and served a six year term. Whether he was running for office, being an influential member of the central committee, acting as a poll judge or writing letters to the editor, those who knew Dan in local politics can confirm that he was a strong, principled man and was never afraid to speak out.

Dan also had a creative side. He composed a series of abstract art that was exhibited in the Jasper Rand Museum in Westfield, MA. In his recent years, he refocused his talent to carpentry and building his own home.

Dan's family and friends will forever remember him for his strength, courage, and willingness to help. He was a fighter and a patriot to the end, and is now at peace.
