Elizabeth Margaret Gentleman

August 9, 1936 — December 20, 2022

Elizabeth Margaret Gentleman passed away in her sleep during the early morning hours of December 20, 2022.

Margaret, as she was known by most, was born in Portobello, Scotland the daughter of David and May Proudfoot. Margaret is survived by John Gentleman, her loving and faithful husband of 64 years. She is also survived by her four children - Scott and his wife Tracey, Carolyn (Nelson) and her husband Michael, Wendy (Minor) and her husband John, and David and his wife Jennifer of Massachusetts; her three brothers – Graham Proudfoot, Don Sundberg and his wife Joan, Gary Sundberg and his wife June. Her brother Richard Sundberg passed away in 1992. Margaret will be missed by her seven grandchildren, ten nieces and nephews, many cousins, and countless persons who thought of her as a mom, a nana, an aunt, and a dear friend. And of course, her beloved four-legged companion, Choca, who never left her side.

Margaret came to America with her family in 1949, and resided in Holden, MA for much of her adult life before moving to Sandpoint, Idaho in her retirement years. She graduated from Classical High School in Worcester, MA, and then went on to get her RN degree from Maine Medical Center, before returning to Worcester and working in Emergency and Pediatrics at Memorial Hospital. Nursing was the perfect career for Margaret who was at heart a caregiver of anyone who needed it. Her deep faith in a God of love was evidenced in her kindness and generosity to all she met. She will be missed dearly.
