Harold Douglas Lutes

Harold D. “Magoo” Lutes, 79, passed away, in Sandpoint, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.  Services will be conducted at 2:00pm, on Saturday, July 16th, in the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, on John Hudon Lane.

Harold was born on February 15, 1943 in Wallace, Idaho.  The family later moved to Hermiston, Oregon where he graduated from high school in 1961.  He attended the two-year college in LaGrande, Oregon.   He moved to Bonner County in 1970, working for the Forest Service in Priest Lake and also worked for Spade Construction, building steel buildings, in the area.

He married Verna on January 22, 1977, in Sandpoint, Idaho; he owned H and R Block, and prepared taxes until retiring in 2018.  He was a longtime member of the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, Arie #589, serving two terms as president.  He also served as president of the Idaho State Eagles Lodge in 2016 and 2017.  He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Seattle area teams.

Harold is survived by his wife, Verna; his son Dale Harding; grandson Cory Harding; granddaughter Deborah Bangle; great grandson Landon Harding; sister Sonjia Morris; three nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Carolina Lutes and his son Dennis Harding.
