Ian Francis Perlinger, 38, passed away to his eternal life on February 10, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, having succumbed to a massive heart attack. He was surrounded by his loving family in comfort.

Ian was born on March 13, 1987, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Mark and Patricia (Garvey) Perlinger. He participated in many activities while growing up such as recreational soccer and 4-H. He enjoyed skiing at Schweitzer Mountain and water sports at Lake Pend Orielle and Pack River. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 2005, where he competed on the swim team. He continued his education at North Idaho College obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). After graduation, he worked at Lead-Lok in Sandpoint as a designer. His direction changed and he worked in construction. Ian eventually left his hometown and settled in Arlington, Washington, working for Amazon. In spirit, he never left Idaho and was making plans to eventually return to Sandpoint.

Ian was an avid nature enthusiast. He was always up for a hike in the many mountain peaks of the Pacific Northwest. He skillfully learned to fly a drone and took arial photos of these epic mountain views. Disc golfing with high school friends became a tradition. His love for board games with friends and family was never ending.

Ian treasured his family gatherings. These, along with vacations, were very important in his life, showing up to almost every reunion, wedding or birthday. He enjoyed playful activities with all his nieces and nephews and will be forever remembered as “The Fun Uncle!”

Ian was a gentle soul. All who knew Ian, would attest to his kindness and genuine personality, his one-of-a-kind laugh, and “up for anything” demeanor. He was such a positive young man. His attitude was that of the beatitudes.

He is survived in death by his parents, brother Adam Perlinger of Sandpoint ID, sister Kristen (Stephen) Babin of Sandpoint, ID, sister Kathryn (Ahcene) Bourdache of Marysville, WA, sister Emily (Maurice) Martin of Konstanz, Germany, 8 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sandpoint, Idaho with Father Rob Cook officiating. Rosary and viewing preceding the funeral. Interment will take place in Pack River Cemetery.
