Jessie Louise Mitchell

d. April 11, 2022

Jessie Louise Mitchell, 75, of Chattaroy, Washington, died April 11, 2022, at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She had been in ill health for several years. Jessie was raised in the Sagle area, the fifth of seven children born to Jasper L. and Nora Mona Dunn Mitchell. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1965. After living at Lind, Washington, for a period of years, she returned to Sandpoint and drove school bus for the Bonner County School District No. 82 for a year or two, then moved to Pendleton, Oregon, and entered nursing school, graduating as a Registered Nurse. She nursed at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, Montana, for several years, then moved to Spokane and worked for Providence Sacred Heart Hospital until retirement. Nursing was her calling, and she was good at it. Her hobbies included camping and gardening, and she was an avid reader. Her last years were spent in a home she had had built on Mount Kit Carson above Chattaroy. She is survived by two children, Tony Wigen, of Chattaroy, and Angela Roll of the Tri-Cities. She was pre-deceased by her parents and two children, Robert Wigen and Lynette Wigen Munk, as well as by her ex-husband, Richard Wigen. She had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her five sisters and one brother: Marylyn Cork of Priest River, Rachel Montgomery, Sagle, Janice May of Tennessee and California, Roy Mitchell, Sagle, Priscilla Sink of Parker, Colorado, and Leisa Baldwin, Sagle. Also, her long-time companion, Jack Langston of Chattaroy. There will be no services at this time. A memorial service is being considered for a later date.
