Joan E. Brown

February 17, 1925 — January 5, 2024

Joan Elizabeth Brown passed away in her home on January 5, 2024.  Private family time preceded burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.  Allen Brown, her loving husband of 62 years, passed away in 2007.  They are now together forever with the Lord.

Joan was born in LaCrescenta-Montrose, California in 1925.  After graduating Glendale High School, she worked as a stenographer at Lockheed Aircraft Corp. during WWII.  In 1945, she married her sweetheart Allen Brown, a radio operator ensign in the Merchant Marines.  Together they raised their loving children in Southern California.  During that time the established and pastored an Assembly of God church, where Joan served at the pastor’s wife, pianist and Sunday School teacher.  Later in life Allen retired as a Christian Marriage and Family Counselor.  In 1984, they moved to Sandpoint.  There Joan joined the Oden Bay Bees women in monthly support of maintaining the Oden Community Hall.  Joan faithfully attended Sandpoint’s weekly community women’s bible study called After God’s Heart for 25 years.  Joan was a sweet spirited, cheerful, caring, attentive wife, mother and friend.  She was dearly loved and cherished by her family.

Joan is survived by her loving children; daughter Betty Jo (Dominick) Curto, son Doug Brown and daughter Jeanie (Neal) Hewitt; four grandchildren Jessica (Kevin) Thomas in California, Chris (Holly) Curto, Jenny May Curto in Portland, OR and Ben (Heather) Curto.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thess 5:18.
