Kerry Anne Collison passed away Friday, November 7th in Spokane, WA.
Kerry Anne Collison was born December 3, 1953, in Redwood City, CA to Elloise and John McLaughlin.
Kerry spent her childhood in and around California’s Bay Area before graduating from Sacramento State University with a degree in Anthropology. Kerry’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit led her on many travels, eventually taking her to Park City, Utah where she met and married Ken Collison and welcomed sons Jack and Christopher. She was a dedicated mother who spent her time sharing her love of music, sewing elaborate halloween costumes and downhill skiing with her sons. Kerry was known around Park City Utah for her big smile, great laugh and incredible memory. She thrived working in local plant nurseries and enjoyed sharing her talents by decorating the light poles on Main Street with beautiful garlands each Christmas.
She loved riding horses with the ladies of the Night Riders in Park City, UT in her younger years. She lived in Park City, UT, before relocating to Sandpoint, ID in 1996 with her partner Warren Burton. They moved to San Jose, CA in 2000 and then to Shingletown, CA, in 2013. Kerry lived the last 3 years of her life in Newport, WA. Kerry and Warren had 30 wonderful years together in which they enjoyed camping, fishing, and snuggling up together by the fire.
Kerry loved singing and playing her guitar for friends and family. She found friends and played music everywhere she went.
Her lifelong love of learning led her to obtaining a second degree in Horticulture from College of San Mateo, CA in 2008. Kerry’s best day was spent enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren, sharing her love of nurturing flowers and playing music.
Kerry is preceded in death by her father Jack McLaughlin, beloved sister Nancy Macready, mother Elloise Adams, second father Charlie Adams and son Christopher Collison. She is survived by her partner Warren Burton, son Jack (Darra) Collison, stepdaughter Gina (Israel) Singer, stepsons Glen (Chelsi) Burton, Warren Burton, beloved nieces Julie Macready, Dawn Macready, Jessica Macready and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grandnieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kerry’s life will be held at a later date.
