Margaret Frances Bergstrom

November 28, 1916 — January 16, 2020

Margaret Frances (Ulrich) Bergstrom, age 103, died on Thursday, January 16thin Sandpoint, Idaho.

She was born in Sandpoint on November 28, 1916 to Margaret and Leonard Ulrich.  Her siblings George Ulrich and Barbara McCrum preceded her in death. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1934.  At that time she went to work for Mountain States Power Company and worked there until she married Lyle Bergstrom in 1942and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana for 2 years where he was stationed at Barksdale Army Air Base. She liked her job and living in a new place but was very homesick and returned to Sandpoint and lived there the rest of both their lives.

When her last child was school age, she went to work for Pack River Lumber Company and worked there until she retired.  At her job there she handled the payroll and as a result was very well liked by all the employees! Her husband Lyle preceded her in death in 2004.  She continued to live in her home until 2016 when she moved to Luther Park Assisted Living.

She has three children: Lyle Bergstrom Jr. (Marla) of Sandpoint, ID, Susan Cusick (Greg deceased)of Kalispell, MT, and Vicki Bergstrom of Sammamish, WA. She has five grandchildren: Jonathan Bergstrom of San Diego, CA, Emily Wildeman of GreenBank, WA, Michelle Motichka of Columbia Falls, MT, Erika Dardis of Kalispell,MT, and Ryan Cusick of Columbia Falls, MT. There are also numerous great and great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Margaret was an excellent cook and seamstress. She always could help with a recipe or a sewing project.

She was the hostess for many holidays, birthdays, and special events. She and her sister were avid huckleberry pickers into their 80’s. She loved her home and her family and spent many years taking care of them.

In 2016 she celebrated her 100th birthday with a surprise party with all her family and friends.  It was a special day that honored her with much love and laughter. We like to think of that as her Celebration of Life and she was the star attraction.

There will be a graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
