Listen to Obituary

Marvin A. Hardegger went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2025 in Sandpoint, Idaho surrounded by his family and friends.

Marvin had an amazing and full life! He was born on November 17, 1934 in Woodland, Washington to Joseph and Minnie Hardegger. Marvin grew up on a farm with his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ernie. Marvin had so many stories and fond memories of growing up and he spoke about them often.

Marvin then joined the army and served most of his time in Germany. After being discharged from the service he married and had his only son, Jeff Hardegger. Jeff will always treasure the road trips, camping and memories with his father. A father who was always there for his son!

Marvin settled in Sandpoint and became an engineer for the Forestry Service. He loved his job and all the wonderful people he got to work with each day.

Marvin then married Betty Hiatt, the love of his life who he spent an amazing 44 years with. They enjoyed their time together, traveling, skiing, hiking, training dogs and of course renovating their homes and doing landscaping projects.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty Hardegger, his son, Jeff Hardegger, his brothers, Richard Hardegger, Ernie Hardegger, his grandchildren Taylor Hardegger and Carson Hardegger, his step children Kim Mitchell, Russ Hiatt, Angie Rutherford and Nicole Jeffres.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we all know this is not goodbye just see you soon!

A celebration will be planned for family and friends at a later date.
