McCoy "Coy" Jeffrey
Jensen
May 3, 2008 — May 25, 2026
McCoy Jeffrey Jensen, 18, passed away on May 25, 2026, in a tragic automobile accident alongside his beloved stepfather, Joshua Pilch. Though his life was far too short, McCoy filled every day with faith, joy, kindness, and love. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
Coy was born on May 3, 2008, in Millcreek, Utah. He spent his life in Saratoga Springs, Utah, Island Park, Idaho, and Sandpoint, Idaho, where he formed lifelong friendships and became known for his remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
Coy was preparing to graduate with high honors from Sandpoint High School and had recently completed seminary. He was eagerly looking forward to serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chile Santiago South Mission beginning this July. His testimony of Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. More importantly, he lived his faith daily through kindness, compassion, service, and genuine love for others.
An exceptional student, athlete, and leader, Coy was a four-year member of Sandpoint High School’s state champion swim team and also competed on the tennis team, serving as captain of both. He loved beach volleyball, pickle ball, boating, music, school activities, and being wherever people were gathered. Teachers consistently spoke of how much they loved having him in their classrooms, and he was recognized as Student of the Month multiple times throughout high school
Yet Coy’s greatest accomplishments were not trophies, titles, or awards. They were the people he loved and the lives he touched.
Those who knew McCoy describe him as someone who lit up every room he entered. He had an infectious smile, a joyful spirit, and an incredible gift for making people feel seen. He instinctively reached out to those who were struggling, included those who felt left out, and never missed an opportunity to offer encouragement. He was a loyal friend, a thoughtful listener, and someone who genuinely cared about others. Whether through a thoughtful text, a sincere compliment, or one of his famous hugs, McCoy made people feel important.
Making people laugh was one of his greatest joys—especially his mom. He loved singing, dancing, joking around, and creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. His laughter was contagious, his energy was uplifting, and his presence made every gathering better.
Family meant everything to McCoy. He loved fiercely and was deeply loved in return. He cherished his parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family, and he adored his niece, Wrenlee. More than anything, he wanted the people around him to feel loved, and he had a unique gift for doing exactly that.
McCoy is survived by his treasured mother, Kimberly Rackman; his father, Chad Jensen; and stepmother Sarah Jensen; his siblings Mailee Wilding (Ty), McKinley Jensen, Myelle Jensen, Bennett Pilch, Georgia Pilch, Haven Pilch, and Bode Pilch; his niece, Wrenlee Wilding; and grandparents Gary and Sharon Rackman, Sam and Tim Firth, Jeff and Laura Jensen, Georgi Jensen, Kenneth Pilch, Elizabeth Cox, Glenn and April Dickman, and Beverly Kramer, along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, teammates, classmates, and dear friends.
He was joined in death by his beloved stepfather, Joshua Pilch.
While words cannot adequately express the sorrow of losing someone so young, they also cannot fully capture the joy McCoy brought to the world. His family finds comfort in the countless stories shared by friends, teachers, coaches, teammates, church leaders, and community members whose lives were changed by his kindness. Coy would be humbled by the outpouring of love shown in his memory, yet those who knew him understand exactly why it exists. He loved people deeply, and that love has been returned many times over.
