Morris Lee Wills, affectionately known as “Morrie,” passed away peacefully in his home on April 3, 2026, at the age of 91.
Morrie was born on November 3, 1934, in Modesto, California, to John Morris Wills Jr. and Isla Lilly Pinckard Wills. He grew up on a ranch alongside his two older sisters, developing a love for adventure, hard work, and a good story—qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Morrie’s faith was the foundation of his life. He served a mission in the Spanish American Mission, where he developed a lifelong love for service and for the people he met. His testimony of the gospel guided his decisions, shaped his character, and remained one of his greatest sources of strength.
On September 27, 1958, he married the love of his life, Beth Louise Johnson, in the Los Angeles Temple. He often said that their marriage was the happiest day of his life. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, service, and family, sharing 67 years of marriage and raising three children.
Morrie served his country in the United States Army as a neuropsychiatric technician before continuing his education and earning a degree in psychology from San Francisco State University. He went on to work in hospital administration and rehabilitation services, dedicating his career to helping others improve their lives. He was also deeply involved in his community, helping establish a neighborhood watch program and contributing to local civic efforts.
Family was a central part of Morrie’s life, expressed in ways both simple and meaningful. While relationships changed and grew over time, he found particular joy in being a grandfather. He shared special traditions with his grandchildren, including sleepovers, trips to Disneyland and the zoo, and his memorable Mickey Mouse pancakes. He could often be found at games and events, cheering them on and celebrating afterward with donuts or ice cream.
In 2006, Morrie and Beth moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, to be closer to family. In his later years, he especially valued time spent together—attending events, visiting, and supporting his children and grandchildren in the ways he knew how.
Morrie is survived by his beloved wife, Beth; his children, Suzy (Tom) Miller, Morris Lee Wills Jr., and Karen (Allen) McClelland; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of faith, love, and devotion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Road in Sandpoint, ID. He will be laid to rest in Modesto, California with his parents.
