Patricia “Pat” Joan (Hawkins) Brown, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, July 25, 2025 in Ponderay, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00am at Coffelt Moon Chapel and Randy Olm will officiate. A graveside burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Pat was born November 29, 1935 to Dalton and Theodora Hawkins in Spokane, WA. Her parents lovingly called her “Patty Jo” as a small child. She grew up in Oden/Sunnyside and went to high school in Sandpoint.
Pat met the love of her life, Richard Brown, in 1949 dancing at the Oden Hall. They were married on April 5, 1952 at the Justice of the Peace in Coeur d’Alene, ID and they had three beautiful children. Being a mother and a housewife was one of her greatest joys. Caring for her children, canning, crocheting, knitting, and daily journaling were some of her hobbies.
Pat worked at the Litehouse, Sayers Jewelers/Kincaid’s, and finally at the Scandinavian Affair. She was a member of the Oden Busy Bees. Pat loved to socialize and spend time with her best friends Mary and Rene.
She is survived by her 3 children, Roger Brown (Lana Brown) of Sandpoint, Debra Scribner (Matt Scribner) of Priest River, and Susan Beltran (Al Beltran) of Sandpoint, 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dalton and Theodora Hawkins, her brother William Hawkins, her husband Richard Brown, and her first great grandson, Cody.
Pat was the most selfless, caring, thoughtful person. She treated everyone as equals. Her family and friends were so very important to her. Phone calls to those she loved most to wish them a happy birthday, anniversary, or to remind them of any special occasion or major life event is something that will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to receive that sweet phone call. The world was truly a better place with her in it. We are comforted to know that she is right where she has wanted to be with her beloved husband.
We love you, love you, love you! Hugs, hugs, hugs!
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Oden Busy Bees Hall.
