Phyllis Mae Staats

March 29, 1945 — June 4, 2025

Sagle

Phyllis Staats, 80, of Sagle, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, surrounded by love at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington.

Born on March 29, 1945, in Nampa, Idaho, Phyllis Mae Dibben grew up deeply rooted in Idaho’s beauty.

Phyllis met her middle school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Staats. The two married in 1962, beginning a journey filled with love, growth, and resilience. Though life’s path took them in different directions for a time, Phyllis and Bob reunited and remarried in 2007, proving that some hearts never truly part.

For nearly two decades, Phyllis worked at Mercy Medical Center in physical therapy and wound care. She later left her position to lovingly care for her aging parents—just one of many ways she lived out her calling to care for others. Whether through her career or in her personal life, Phyllis was a devoted caregiver, known for her warmth, generosity, and compassion.

Outside of care giving, Phyllis was a talented crafter. She found joy and peace in crocheting, creating handmade treasures for the people she loved. Her creativity was matched only by her giving spirit—whether it was a crochet potholder, a heartfelt card, or a warm meal, Phyllis gave of herself without hesitation.

Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life. She was the kind of grandmother who gave the best hugs and always had a listening ear.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Staats; daughters Debbie Murphy, Terese Evans, and Suzanne Marchbanks; son Kevin Staats; and brothers Dwane Dibben and Dennis Dibben. Her love continues through her many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will carry her legacy in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Phillip Dibben; sister Connie Holt; brother Roger Dibben; and grandson David Evans.

A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held at a later date in the Nampa/Caldwell area, where friends and family will gather to share memories, laughter, and stories in honor of the incredible woman she was.
