Becky was born on November 24, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Gretchen Nelson. She passed away on May 26, 2026 in Sandpoint, Idaho after a courageous battle with cancer. Becky’s positive nature brought comfort to her husband and family as they navigated the challenges of a variety of treatments. She was the embodiment of beauty and elegance, but she was also humble and blessed with the gifts of warmth and kindness. She made everyone feel welcome and included in her presence. You could always count on a thoughtfully written message on every holiday, birthday, and anniversary. Before her mother’s passing, Becky took unsurpassed care of her throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s. Becky and her husband Larry shared a beautiful home in Northern Idaho on Lake Pend Oreille, they wintered in St. George, Utah where they reconnected with close friend Nancy and son C.J.

Becky was proceeded in death by her mother, Gretchen Rutherford; stepfather, Ben Rutherford; and her father, John Nelson Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Larry Kurtze; sons, Sean (Rashelle) Frederickson, C.J. Frederickson, Craig Kurtze; step-daughter, Amy Kurtze; brother, John (Nancy) Nelson; niece, Jennifer (Bryce) Mackin; step-sister, Jane (Tom) Ramsberger and their daughter, Margaret; she is also survived by her beloved dog, Fred who traveled with her and provided unconditional love and comfort. Becky was a treasure and will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
