Born in Johnstown PA to Col. Samuel N Lowry and Ann Kusch Lowry, RN. Sally moved a dozen times before arriving in Sandpoint in 2001.
After graduating from Penn State Sally worked for a radio station for a while before heading to San Francisco to begin a very successful career in advertising. Sally quickly became the first female Vice President of a national advertising agency and this success was followed by executive positions with major companies in New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Baton Rouge. She then left the corporate world to open her own gift shop called The Imp in Santa Monica CA on prestigious Montana Ave.
Sally’s love affair with Sandpoint began during a visit with her sister Linda in 1999. During this brief visit she decided to leave the big city life so she bought a waterfront lot and selected a local builder to build her new home. In 2001 she moved in and never regretted her decision. Her local friendships were many and diverse. She often commented on how wonderful it was to have so many good friends with such varied backgrounds.
Sally traveled extensively including multiple trips to Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. She tended to study the people and culture of most places she visited rather then just be a typical tourist.
Community service was the point origin of most of Sally’s many important local friendships. Involvement in CAL, POAC, Bizarre Bazaar and the Healing Garden were all very important in her life.
Sally played Bunco, Mexican Train and bridge on a regular basis. She was active in both the Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry bridge clubs.
In 2008 Sally joined a very select group of prominent local ladies when she was named a Woman of Wisdom.
Known for her boundless passion and enthusiasm for almost everything about Sandpoint and it’s residents, Sally is loved by most and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
