Sandra “Sandi” McNearney Moody was born in Sandpoint, Idaho June 17, 1946 with her twin brother Sam McNearney to Angeline and Charles McNearney. She joined sisters Shirley (Kennedy) and Marilyn (Slette). She attended local schools, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1964. She Married William “Bill” Moody on Christmas Eve 1971 as they just celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary this Christmas. She had two daughters Stefanie (Taylor) AND kris (Dobrilovic)
Throughout her life she held several jobs that she truly enjoyed but mostly enjoyed the the people she encountered. Like a good majority of local kids, her first job was up at Schweitzer and then she worked for a time at the Idaho First National Bank. As her daughters grew up got a job at their school, Farmin School Elementary. She worked as the school lunch secretary and became everyone’s favorite lunch lady and second mom. When Walmart came to town, she took a job there and spent 17 years helping people and becoming the go to person when you needed to find something and a good deal. In the last 5 years she spent her time at the local Eagles cooking up Taco Tuesdays and Friday night dinners and helping as needed. She enjoyed each job she had and the people and friends she met along the way. In her spare time, you could catch her out having coffee with friends or sitting on her front porch enjoying all of her many cats. She was up for that cup of coffee at any time, or a a fun trip to the casino was a favorite past time as well.
She passed peacefully at her home on December 28, 2022 after a brief, but hard fought, battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband Bill, her daughter Stefanie better known to all as “Ta” with her husband Ed Taylor in Sandpoint. Her daughter Kris and husband Mark Dobrilovic and her two grandsons Luka (19) and Dejan (17) who live in Mission Viejo, California. And her “adopted” son Jeff Heath of Sandpoint. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley (Cris) Kennedy of Hayden, ID, Marilyn Slette of Medford, OR and half-sister Glenda (Bryan) Poston of Bonners Ferry. Brother-in-Law Lannie Moody and sister-in-law Lorna McNearney along with several generations of nieces and nephews.
She will be reunited with her Lord and Savior along with her parents, her twin brother Sam, and we like to assume the countless cats and pets that she loved and adored.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Dale Coffelt will be officiating with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park. A reception will follow, the service, at the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge, on John Hudon Lane.
