Sandra Lee Syth

July 13, 1944 — October 9, 2019

On October 9, 2019, the golden gates of Heaven opened and welcomed Sandra Lee Syth (wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and best friend) into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.

Sandy was born in Sandpoint on July 13, 1944. She was the youngest of thirteen children born to Kenneth and Charlotte Pellens. Sandy grew up in Sandpoint and attended local schools. She graduated in 1962 from Sandpoint High School.

Sandy met the love of her life Leroy Syth in 1963. They married a year later on March 21, 1964 in Sandpoint. Shortly after, their first daughter Paula Jean was born. Then in 1967, they welcomed son Wade Alan, and a few years later in 1971, their second daughter Jackie Lee was born.

Sandy kept herself busy, working full time and raising a family. She worked for Sand Ida Services for a few years before moving into the health care field. Sandy worked at The Manor (now known as Valley Vista) for many years. She then started working for Life Care in 1997. Sandy helped set up and run the laundry department until her retirement in 2010. Sandy was known for being a kind, loving, and hardworking co-worker with the cleanest, whitest shoes and best pressed uniform in the building. She was recently asked if she would come back to work. Of course, she said no.

Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to read to her grandchildren, actually taught a few of her grandchildren to read. Sandy also helped raise a couple of her grandchildren. Thank you, Grandma! She loved to go for drives with Leroy. It didn’t matter where, just as long as she wasn’t sitting in the house. If she wasn’t driving around with Leroy, she was out walking the many bike paths and streets of her beloved Sandpoint. Mom would always tell us that “we live in the most beautiful place in the world”. Sandy walked Bloomsday with her daughters and grandchildren from 1994-2012.

Sandy also enjoyed going to garage sales, Goodwill, and the animal shelter thrift store, looking for that lost treasure (mostly cat figurines). Later in life, Sandy started going to Sandpoint Church of God and was baptized on August 19, 2012. She really enjoyed going to Church, until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Leroy Syth of Sandpoint; three children, Paula Campbell of Post Falls; Wade Syth of Sandpoint; Jackie (Josh) Forell of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one brother Ken (Val) Pellens of Vancouver, Washington. She was proceeded in death by her parents and eleven siblings.

A special thank you to the staff at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’ Alene. Our forever Angel, received such loving care from you all!

Service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday 26th in Sandpoint at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jon Pomeroy will be officiating.
