Sheldon Jay Bennett passed away Oct 27, 2024, at the age of 82.
He was born to Dorothy Louise Phillip Bennett and Lloyd Allen Bennett on July 16, 1942, at Ogden Memorial Hospital, Utah.
Sheldon is survived by four sisters Kathryn Ann Hill (Gordon), Judy Raye Scott (Richard), Janet Marie Bouse (Daniel), Patti Lynn Withers (Gary). After adding 3 sisters to the family, Lloyd and Dorothy moved the family from Morgan, Utah to North Idaho to Hoo Doo Valley 15 miles South of Priest River. Later the fourth sister was born. Sheldon worked a dairy farm with his dad and mom. The dairy was sold so that Lloyd could shoe horses full time.
Sheldon loved horses and learned to shoe them from his dad. He had a special cream-colored quarter horse named Skeeter. He wanted to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so he sold his horse for his mission fund. He served in the Gulf States Mission for two years. When he came home, he went to school at Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Youth Leadership. He has used this knowledge serving as a Boy Scout leader.
After the passing of his dad, Sheldon took over the horse shoeing business. He also worked at Buffalo Arms until his retirement. He loved his animals, his dogs and horses.
He will be missed.
A memorial will be held Friday, November 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Rd., Sandpoint, ID.
