Cynthia M. "Cindy" Derr

April 7, 1955 — March 5, 2021

Cynthia Mae Derr, 65, was born April 7, 1955 at Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint Idaho to Blaine and Mary Stevens.  She attended the old Hope School and graduated from Clark Fork High School in 1973.  She married Darrell Derr of Clark Fork the summer after graduating and they have two daughters Staci (Derr) Bailey and Jennifer Derr-Payne.

Growing up, Cynthia loved her horses Rebell and Joe.  As a teen, she participated in 4H, worked at the Litehouse in Hope, did lots of baby sitting, and planted trees for the Forest Service.  Cynthia worked as the secretary for Clark Fork High School for many years while her children were growing up and enjoyed the summers off at the lake.  She also worked at Kaniksu Realty, McFarland Cascade, LP, Pape Machinery, and PSNI.  Cynthia coached volleyball in the Clark Fork and Sandpoint communities for over 30 years including both of her daughters and many others that went on to play volleyball at the collegiate level.  She was the Clark Fork High School volleyball head coach for many years and started the towns first off season volleyball club - Clark Fork Juniors Volleyball Club.  She worked tirelessly raising money for scholarships so that any girl that wanted to play off season volleyball had that opportunity regardless of financial situations.  Her love of the game was intense.  Her dedication to the sport and the positive impact she made in the community will be remembered by many.  Cynthia was also a volleyball referee for many years with the NIOA and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for volleyball referees.  Cynthia enjoyed going to the lake and river, decorating cakes, knitting, sewing, walking, hiking, flower shopping, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and of course anything volleyball.

Cynthia is survived by her mother Mary Stevens, her daughters Staci (Ryan) Bailey & Jennifer (Chris) Derr-Payne, her grandchildren Owen & Bella Bailey, sister Becky (Rob) Farmin, brothers Terry (Mendy) Stevens & Mark (Margie) Stevens, and many nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father Blaine Stevens.
